Good afternoon everyone. I thought I would write a little match report based on game at the weekend.
We knew Saturday would be a tough game versus Murieston Greens, as half of the badgers were missing. With 5 kids being away at the weekend, this gave Lucas and Noah the opportunity to play their 1st league match for the team, they got their kit and we hoped they enjoyed the experience.
We took the opportunity to play kids in different positions and a new formation 1-1-3-1 to continually help with their education. Callan was super excited to play his 1st league match as goalie and he did not disappoint.
The game started well and we managed to get a early goal from Brady, very quickly thereafter Luke N (making his outfield debut) managed to score with a cracking right foot shot. We made it 3 nil with another strike from Brady. The kids were now settling into the game and working hard for each other. There was some nice passing moves and was delighted with Lucas W and Thomas workrate, it was a selfless task with great endeavour, even the referee mentioning this. Murieston managed to pull a goal back and then Nana scored with a delightful chip in which he shouted ‘ I didn’t mean it ’ ha-ha. The score was now 4 -1 and the kids were hungry for more goals, their hunger made them forget about their defensive duties which led to 2 quick goals from Murieston, making the game 4-3.
The game was end to end and was really enjoyable, cue Josh… we worked a great corner and Josh steps up with a 20 yarder top bins goal, I don’t know what was better his goal or his brilliant celebration!!.
There was 5 mins to go and out of the blue Murieston’s star man (that already scored 2) hit a shot that was flying into the top corner…… from nowhere Callan leaped like a ‘cat’ and saved it to the delight of his teammates and got a cuddle from Josh. What a save !!!
Broxburn still kept looking for more goals and then got struck with a counter attack which Murieston scored. I think Nana who was playing CD at the time was left wing LOL. The ref blew the final whistle for 5-4 victory to the Badgers.
Gary and Neil’s principles were on show today!!
Well done Badgers
